Color Scanning Tips
Be sure your Color Muse device is properly paired to your mobile device via the Color Muse app. When you’re ready to scan use these tips to get the most accurate color match from your Color Muse.
- Device Placement: Place Color Muse as flat as possible against the surface you wish to scan.
- Texture and Uneven Surfaces:When scanning brick, stucco, textiles, and other textured surfaces, it’s good to remember how lighting affects color matching. While Color Muse does offer a controlled lighting environment for accurate scanning, textured surfaces cause light to reflect at different angles, which can sometimes produce a less accurate color match.
- Lighting:We know how lighting affects color. Four walls in one room, though painted the same color, will look different based on shadow, artificial light, daylight, and so on. The Color Muse takes this into consideration, and sports a contained light source. This neutralizes any other lighting on the surface you’re scanning, and creates a controlled environment ideal for getting accurate scans.
- Exteriors:Color Muse is most commonly used for interior paint matching, but it can be very handy for getting a close match to exterior paint as well. While your match might not be exact, due to texture and uneven surfaces, Color Muse can still help you find ideas using the Inspiration feature in the app.
